Title: Prodigious yet innocuous - The Giant Vessel
Description: Congenital Retinal Macrovessel (CRM) - An aberrant retinal vessel, typically a vein, that emanates from the optic disc and crosses the horizontal raphe. Archer classifies CRM as stage 1 arteriovenous malformation of the retina. Visual loss may be unusual due to macular hemorrhage, macular edema, macular ischemia, serous macular detachment, branch retinal artery occlusion, foveal ectopia, and angioscotoma. MRI must be considered in the presence of neurologic symptoms.
